Today's the day but already I'm beginning to wish it wasn't! Today I'm off to Bath to see King Lear, truly, in my opinion, the very greatest play Shakespeare ever wrote. I mentioned the other day that news had leaked out that the lady director concerned had decided to set the play in 1960s London gangland. Happily, most of my vomit landed in the wastepaper bin! Today, just to rub it in, a 'friend' sent me a review from the local Bath Chronicle and I felt like squeezing my eyeballs out the way poor Gloucester's are in the play:

I did think of cancelling but the fact is that I am rather intrigued to see where this lady director introduces a homosexual element into a masterpiece that contains not a singular reference or even a hint of homosexuality.
