Given his abysmal record we should be seeing cartoons in the papers showing Dave as a clown tripping over his own big boots and falling into the bucket of water he's supposed to be carrying. But 'over here' you only have to raise your eyes a little and there is the hilarious sight of the leader(?) of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, Mr. Ed 'Milipede', a clown of such proportions that he actually ties his shoe-laces before he puts his boots on! Thus, a few weeks ago he opened his mouth and let his belly rumble to the effect that it just wasn't jolly well good enough that members of Trade Unions were assumed by their union masters to wish to contribute to the Labour party and thus a political contribution was automatically deducted from their union dues. Well, of course it is an iniquitous practice but surely the last man in the country who should complain about it is the leader of the Labour party. However, good, old, goofy Ed did just that and so yesterday the GMB union sliced a million quid a year off their contributions to his party. At this point you must be picking yourselves up off the floor through laughing so hard but allow me, clown-like, to pour a bucket of cold water over you and, after reminding you that he who laughs last didn't get the joke, warn you that any minute now the shrieks and moans from parliament will arise as those scumbags howl for government money to support political parties. Of course, you all realise that when they say 'government money' they mean our money, there being no such thing as 'government money'.
If that view is simply too, too, depressing, raise your eyes a little further to 'over there' where, in my opinion, the worst, most imcompetent and short-sighted president of my lifetime (and that includes Jimmy Carter) continues to stumblebum his way into definite embarrassment and humiliation and possibly into a war that he never wanted. Before my amanuensis, JK, digs up the quote, I do recall writing during the run-up to Obama's first election that he seemed to be a fairly intelligent young man and that there was a possibility that he would rise above the crass stupidity of his party. In mitigation, I'm sure I added the rider that no-one can know for sure how a leader will turn out until he or she is in the job. Well, we know for sure now that Obama not only makes 'Dim Dave' look bright, he actually succeeds in making Ed 'Milipede' appear reasonable. I just feel in my bones that in himself Obama had absolutely no wish to be involved in this Syrian imbroglio. Someone, or some group of people, twisted his arm up his back and I would dearly love to know who because the potential for disaster is immense.
So, carry on, Dave, at least you managed unwittingly to cock-up our stumble into an unwanted war, just as you have cocked-up our energy policy, the HS2 train, the extra runway at Heathrow, our exit from the EU, our national debt and so on and on ad infinitum and ad nauseum!
