Duffers the Malaysian authorities are never open and transparent about anything.

Lots of $AUDs were expended on a fruitless search in the southern Indian Ocean and, while it was in our SAR zone, it should have been bleedingly obvious that such a course was highly unlikely. There remains a lot of unanswered questions regarding the dearth of radar int on the flight.

Yes, indeed, several writers have remarked on the reluctance of the Malaysian authorities to provide military radar readings. Mind you, it might just be embarrassment that through inefficiency they haven't got much!
