The GOP figured out that in any war, you find the funding mechanism for the enemy and cut it off.

As we have seen again and again, the judiciary has emerged as supreme among the three branches of government. We should hardly be surprised to see it be the object of bitter factional struggle: the insuperable power it wields, combined with the ever-increasing reach of government into every aspect of life, makes it a glittering prize.

Which is why, Malcolm, despite his peculiarities, I am so thankful for Trump particularly as rumours of resignation by Justice Kennedy from the Supreme Court start to proliferate.

Not as thankful as I am! Hardly a day goes by that I don't remember -- with a frisson of horror followed by a warm flush of gratitude -- that Hillary Clinton might so easily have become president. It still amazes me that it didn't happen.

"The horror, oh, the horror"!
