A creative writer isn't a corporal. It would not befit his place in the ranks to wear a uniform of prose. The book is better than the movie exactly because McCarthy is so adept at evoking the sound and tempo of spoken American English by manipulating phrasing and punctuation.

As for Benedict Arnold, we might have a more immediate concern for the disciplines of writing and video.
