"Oh the horror, the horror!" With heavy and reluctant fingertips I am forced to write in full support of Dame Margaret Hodge MP - yeeeeeeeeees, her! She is normally the recipient of my grumpy, old man invective given that she is yet another of those multi-zillionaire socialists with a villa in Italy and 'loadsa dosh' carefully hidden in tax-avoiding trusts - need I say more?! She is also a Jewess and, according to her, several members of her family, including her Grandmother and her Auntie, ended up in Hitler's gas chambers.
Thus, it must have come as a truly nasty shock for her to realise that the top echelons of the new Marxist Labour party, and a considerable swathe of the membership, are now rampant anti-Semites. Thus it was that when she met the leader of her Party, 'Jezza' Corbyn, in the corridors of Westminster she called him a "fucking anti-Semite and racist". With all the predictability of an incoming tide, the re-action of Jezza's office was that she would be disciplined - 'vee haf vays of making you obey!' Or possibly they asked if anyone could spare a shilling for the gas?!
Let me make one thing clear, I have absolutely no objection to anyone expressing anti-Israel opinions. Of course, there is a romantic sheen over the whole concept of a Jewish homeland after centuries of diaspora but that does not excuse the Jewish state from criticism of several of its policies. Even so, there is a clear difference between that and the denigration of individual Jews who are, like Dame Margaret Hodge, British subjects of the Queen, simply because of their racial antecedents. That this emanates from a political party which never stops screeching 'racist' at anyone who disagrees with them is vomit-inducing hypocrisy of the first order.
