I'm beginning to feel like a complete failure. I owned up to my liking for 'pulp fiction', meaning American crime thrillers, and promised to give you all some hot tips. Well, the first was for a semi-historical novel written by a Mexican and set in Europe, and this one, the second, is British; but at least I can tell you true that it is an absolute corker. Good News, Bad News is by a new writer, David Wolstencroft, and I have seen it on the shelves of a motorway service shop and in my local supermarket, so there is no excuse for not rushing out and buying it NOW! I can only describe it, and here I hesitate to use modern argot not least because I am always in danger of using it wrongly, as 'hip'. In the credits some-one describes it as having shades of le Carre and Greene, but to me it was much more reminiscent of Deighton in his very early spy books. Much sly humour, more twists and turns than you'd get in a politician's speech and loads of really nasty violence. It is a terrific read, and I can't wait for his second book to come out.
Fuck you Duff or whoever. U r a mammoth monster warmonger bastard, a peabrain who I suspect have been paid for playing side kick to that B-astard LIAR.

Thank you, 'Swarup Som', although I must confess my confusion as to the relevance of your, no doubt, insightful remarks to a post offering a book tip for a new thriller. I was about to ask you to explain, but on second thoughts ....
