I was feeling a bit grumpy this morning, don't know why, but as I cruised the Blogosphere becoming increasingly desperate for something to laugh about, or even smile at, I clicked on to the site of Ed the Dim of York. He, you may recall, recently banned me from his site so you can imagine the cackles, of equal parts joy and malice, that issued forth from my wheezy chest when I read that a tutor was threatening to throw his PhD thesis into the bin. I can only judge Ed's work by what he writes on his blog and on that basis I'm surprised he even made it to a university - until I reminded myself that most universities are now just a sort of 'Youf' Opportunities racket invented by this government to disguise the true unemployment rate. However, I gather that this was not Ed's usual tutor and after he burst into tears his 'thesis' was re-instated by his normal one. Still, nice to know that there are some university teachers with standards lurking in the shadows of our hallowed halls of academe.
I feel better already!
