Oliver Kamm provides yet another public service, in addition to writing one of the most intelligent and literate blogs on the net (even if I disagree with some of it), by educating those of us who have somehow staggered through life without ever knowing of John McDonnell MP, the Gordon Brown punch-bag in the forthcoming election for leader of Nearly-Nu Labour. Apparently McDonnell said, or rather burped his foul breath to the effect, that we should "honour" members of the IRA and the "bravery" of their "bombs and bullets". On another site I have asked one of his keenest supporters to define exactly the amount of 'bravery' required to sneak a bomb into a crowded place and then do a runner. If I'm not too ill, I will give you her answer, if and when it comes.
