I am still awaiting the howls of outrage and the "rapid rattle" of gunfire from the execution squad in response to that 'thicko' former postman who currently masquerades as, and please don't vomit, our 'Edukashun' minister who has instructed schools to play tendentious political propoganda to children in the form of Al Gore's polemical film on the subject of global warming. This, I would remind you, is the man who urged our little darlings to use Wikipedia as a source of learning! However, it isn't the forced inculcation of egregiously bad science into the heads of our dear little tots that I object to, after all, most of them are too thick to understand anything containing words of more than one syllable; no, it is the infliction on the little innocents of what can only be described as 'cruel and unusual punishement' in the form of having to sit and listen to Al 'Bore' droning on and on and on and on ...
I say, bring back the cane, it would be kinder!
I know you regard it as little more than a 'theory' David, but they really ought to be teaching the science behind global warming rather than showing slick movies fronted by ex presidential candidates. They probably are actually, come to think of it.
Or are you of the opinion it's happening, but it's nothing to do with us..........
Anyway, you'll love this chap.

I used to go into his comic shop when I was a nipper. I think the long hours sitting behind piles of Superman comics and sci-fi books has sent him a little funny though. Certainly some interesting ideas, I'll give him that.

Thanks, 'Ill Man', I only had time to skim-read a few posts but I've sent off for a membership application already!
The so-called 'science' behind global warming is, as far as I can make out, very second-rate.

David
You don't understand. It has nothing to do with the environment.
The question at that age is how do you keep the students under control. Play an Al Gore tape in the morning and they will be sound asleep for for the rest of the day.
If you want the students to be able to deal with HAF (or CAF) issues when they graduate, don't teach Gloabal Warming, just teach math and scientfic method. Of course, if they pay attention in those classes they might not endorse the official line.

Not as second rate as that being used by big business apologists to suggest that we've nothing to do with it or that it isn't happening.
I'm fairly ambivelent about it all to be honest. I'm too naturally lazy to go chasing down the facts, so the last thing I'm going to do is subscribe to the piece of pseudo-science that fits my personal beliefs best.
To be honest, I'm more concerned about the amounts of rubbish that collect along river and canal banks, and in parkland. The dreaded blue carrier bags..........
Shoot fly tippers on sight I say......... ;D

Just a simple question;evolution or genesis?

"[D]on't teach Global Warming, just teach math and scientfic method. Of course, if they pay attention in those classes they might not endorse the official line"
Absolutely spot on, Hank!
"Shoot fly tippers on sight I say".
So do I, 'Ill Man', which might be enough to make you rethink your stance!

'ZinZin', you're new here and may not realise that after 10.00 pm it's usually the Glenmorangie that's driving this end of the link. Well, to be honest it could be any time after 6.00 pm, now I come to think about it - and even lunchtimes are occasionally a bit hazy; but anyway, the point is that you will have to be a little more fulsome with your elliptical, ambiguous question before my befuddled brain can grope about for anything resembling an answer.

"which might be enough to make you rethink your stance!"
Nonsense David. Just as I can agree to disagree with you or call you a silly old fart, I can also happily share the same opinion about something. Just fed up of looking at the crap that gathers because people don't know how to use bins or find out where the council tip is. Shopping bags in trees are a particular bugbear. Known as 'Govan Bunting' apparently....
I think Zinzin is making an oblique reference to your stance on Global Warming. Or maybe he's referring to your stance on Darwinian theory. Not sure, one of the two anyway...
Posted by: The iLL Man | Saturday, 05 May 2007 at 23:49
Perhaps both.
