In my grim, daily trawl through the BBC news sites to find the results of the previous night's murders to add to my running totals in "They died in vain", it is a real relief to come across some good news. Two waste-clearers working for a council in Wales picked up a wallet containing £190 plus some US dollars and credit cards. Instead of heading for the pub, these sterling fellows managed to track down the American owner who was on the point of leaving for his air journey back to Amarillo in Texas. The wallet is being posted back to him in Amarillo where, presumably, he will be singing "There's a church bell ringing / Hear the song of joy that it's singing" along with a few bars of "Men of Harlech".
Anyway, such an act of honesty these days is like a gleam of gold in the sludge of a pan-handler's sieve. It cheered me up reading that this morning and I hope it does the same for you.
