In the post below this I started to link to several other sites and posts and when I finished I began flicking around some other old favourites of mine, so, as I'm in the mood, here is another link for you to follow to a site run by Tim Newman, a 'top honcho' in the oil industry, but not one of those Lord Brown-type acolytes who run smoothly with their master's brief-case from chauffeur-driven limo to air-conditioned hotel. Mr. Newman is up a very 'sharp end' indeed, based as he is in the Russian Far East on the Island of Sakhalin. As part of his duties recently he had to make a return visit to Moscow, a city he had not seen for over three years. His comparisons are shrewd, I guess, and accurate. I have become slightly agitated recently over what seems like a Russian resurgence of power, but Mr. Newman's remarks remind me of the truth of that old saying about Mother Russia, she is never as powerful as she seems, nor as weak. I urge you to read Mr. Newman's observations.
PS: His remarks concerning the real danger to future oil supplies, that is governmental control of oil companies, are also worth reading.
I'm a bit late in saying this, but cheers mate!
