"It is a truth universally acknowledged" that anyone given the epithet "Mad" by Lefties is almost certainly talking or writing extremely good sense. Thus, 'Mad Mel' (aka, Melanie Phillips) in today's Mail, gives a plangent and timely warning concerning 'Hash Brown's' support for swivel-eyed doctors to whip out any of our bits and pieces to which they take a fancy, for (to extend my plunder of Miss Jane Austen), "it is a truth universally acknowledged" that a politician in pursuit of your heart and liver should be shot on sight; or perhaps, put down under the Dangerous Dogs Act!
It is odd how my random thoughts co-incide with real events. Only the other day I was wondering about the nature of death, how exactly it occurs in old age and under what terms it is established that people are dead. Also, again by co-incidence, during my visit to Nottingham University last week-end (see below) I was browsing the book shelves of a Professor and spotted a book that I, too, possess, and one that influenced me greatly when I read it some 30-odd years ago. For old time's sake, I re-read the opening paragraphs of the author's preface which included the following:
"Two noteworthy implications are that the state may not use its coercive apparatus for the purpose of getting some citizens to aid others, or in order to prohibit activities to people for their own good or protection." [Author's emphasis] [1]
Then this morning, I sneak a look at the little 'Memsahib's' Daily Mail which tells me of the government's desire to turn to an 'opt out' scheme that would permit the 'quacks' to take your organs as and when they proclaim your death. Irrespective of the moral and philosophical objections, there is, as 'Mad Mel' points out, a very real technical problem, to wit, when, exactly and precisely, is some one dead? You see, the 'quacks' like to take out these organs when your heart is still pumping blood round your system - I bet you didn't know that! No problem, they assure us, because we, the experts, have proclaimed you to be "brain dead". If so, one cannot help wondering why some 'quacks' actually administer an anaesthetic to the , er, 'dead' body before they remove the organ? I bet you didn't know that either! Also, the whole theory of 'brain death' has been sullied by the experiences of those who after years in a vegetative coma, under threat of death by starvation or thirst if the doctors had their way, have recovered and told of their existence and feelings whilst incapacitated.
The story that organs are only ever taken from the dead is a fiction to go alongside similar lies told by the lying liars who rule over us, such as, murderers are given "life sentences".
