There's a slant-eyed yellow peril to the north of Kathmandu!

The world watches closely to see how the Chinese deal with their little embarrassment in Tibet.  Nowhere will it be watched with greater concentration than in the other provinces of China.  I cannot pretend to any specialist knowledge of that huge country but I do know that if the centre weakens the ever-present centrifugal forces will begin to throw off bits and pieces here and there where local chiefs have a desire to run their own affairs without interference from Peking.  I suspect that the Party will use ferocious force to put down the uprising in Tibet pour encourager les autres, whilst possibly raising the temperature over Taiwan in order to raise up patriotism against the USA.  Also, it is often forgotten that China is home to an enormous Muslim population and they, too, will watch the outcome with considerable interest.
