I pointed out below the giggle-inducing report that Dr. Hansen's GISS organisation had inadvertantly put September's temperature figures into their October report and, hey presto, produced the hottest October on record. Ooops! Their chief spokesman, Dr. Gavin Schmidt, has issued a correction which, if it had simply stated something along the lines of, hey, it was a computer glitch and, well, shit happens, everyone, including most sensible sceptics would have understood. Alas, Schmidt, in his embarrassment and anger at being caught out because his own organisation had failed to spot the glitch (despite the extraordinary jump in temperatures) was not satisfied with that but used his statement to excoriate all those 'amateurs' who sieve his statistics looking for error.
Warren Meyer, host at Climate Skeptic, has written two posts in response to Schmidt's bad-tempered tantrum which makes clear in language that can be understood by laymen the gulf between HAFs and the intelligent sceptics. Well worth reading both of them.
Talking of pianists - as we were a few months back - today's Indy has a nice set of pics of the Dook.
