Sorry to begin with a cliche but you really couldn't make this up. The former NASA boss of Dr. James Hansen, 'the onlie begetter' (or at least one of the leading protagonists) of the alarmist theory of man-made global warming, has written to a Senate committee and confessed that he no longer believes in the theory and that the 'science' upon which it is based is "useless". He says that Hansen embarrassed NASA and, moreover:
some scientists have manipulated the observed data to justify their model results. In doing so, they neither explain what they have modified in the observations, nor explain how they did it. They have resisted making their work transparent so that it can be replicated independently by other scientists. This is clearly contrary to how science should be done. Thus there is no rational justification for using climate model forecasts to determine public policy,” he added.
The discussion in the comments at Anthony Watts's site (from where I received the news) is particularly interesting on why Hansen's boss decided to speak up now but kept silent earlier. Also, on whether or not this news will trigger MSM interest. Don't hold your breath, especially if you only watch the BBC!
And (especially if you watch the BBC) don't expect to hear about Obama's sudden reversal of his campaign statement that Americans can no longer "keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times"

Well, when it comes to his home, anyway...
