No, no, I am not referring to the poltroons in Westminster, I am, alas, speaking of myself and offering you a mea culpa for my absence from duty in recent days. I can't remember if I told you (old men always forget what they've said, sometimes before they've even said it), where was I? Oh yes, my-dog-ate-the-post excuse for not posting very much. I have shuffled, blinking in bewilderment into the 21st century, or to be precise, I have discovered PowerPoint (PP) and I have just designed an entire show to support my talk on The Battle of Three Emperors, that's Ulm and Austerlitz for those of you who think history (and sex) began in 1964!
For the first time in my life I have a very slight glimmering of understanding into the complexities of computer programming. Never again shall I complain or listen to a word said against the Masters of the Universe who work for Mr. Bill Gates. Splendid chaps - and chapettes, I suppose - to a man, er, and a woman, of course. It has proven to be a most time-consuming, exacting and pernickety job. No error is permitted, all commands must follow in strict logical terms. Regular readers will know, of course, that strict logical terms are not in high demand here at D&N where we prefer assertion and generalisation! Anyway, my old chalk and talk methods are soooo last century but now I can stand up proudly as a PP graduate of the 21st century.
To add to my forthcoming travails, I finally made up my mind and offered my services to the local AmDram group to direct King Lear for Spring next year. I foresee much wailing and gnashing of teeth - no, no, not me, them! They have no idea what's going to hit them and, oh dear, they all seem such very nice people and they really do not deserve a graduate from the Ghengis Khan School of Directing like me.
Anyway, maybe later tonight, or tomorrow I will return to duty, here at D&N. I think my first post will be an explanation as to why I failed to faint away at the so-called torture of prisoners by the CIA which, I can only suppose, actually stands for Comfort In America!
