Idly meandering my way round the web I came across this which served two purposes. First, it reminded me of les temps perdu and the amazing fact that as a scrawny teen-ager I actually stumbled, staggered and dragged myself (with a little help from a foam-flecked sergeant offering extreme, er, encouragement at full volume 2" from my ear; and, second, it has provided me with the incentive to try, for the first time, to load videos onto this blog in order to give you all a break from my non-stop written 'yadda-yadda' - remember, service is our password, here at Duff & Nonsense!
Actually this film is far too long and I would advise you to 'drag' the pointer along when it becomes too tedious in order to cut the time. It shows the various tests of stamina and aggression required to be passed in order to gain entry to the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces. It very kindly does not show the unmitigated shit and derision that falls on the head of anyone who fails, suffice to say that no quarter is given or expected.
I can only remark that I am quietly heartened that 50+ years after I went through it there are still young men willing to test themselves.
Well I never, head protection in the milling. We never had that in my day...

That's true and there was more stuffing in my Xmas turkey than there was in those old boxing gloves!
