Ah, bless my fellow countrymen, they do so hate extremism and much prefer to wallow in the luke-warm pools of the middle ground, not too hot, not too cold, so relaxing and no need to brace up, or face up, to either hot or cold. Alas for them, they are in for a shock. Their tepid comfort zone is about to be blasted by freezing, howling gales from the international markets and my guess is they will start to blow up today; and then later, in the summer, red hot winds of industrial strife will tear across the country. The problem with both of these blasts of 'fresh' air is that they always go to extremes. The markets are likely to over-react and will force whatever stitched-up government evolves to go much further than is prudent. Equally, militant unions, especially public 'service' unions, will be determined to exempt their members from any collateral damage inflicted by the markets. I'm not too sure that Cameron (or his successor - after all, he failed!) should rush to take over. Let Labour (and the Lib Dems) take the heat, after all, they deserve it.
Me? I'm off to pack my suitcases . . .
Additional: Whilst shaving and showering and you-know-what, a couple of other thoughts occurred. First, it might have the stench of political corruption about it but the Brown/Balls' plan hatched 10 years ago to steadily ramp up the number of people whose entire incomes rely on the public sector has worked a treat. No-one who earns their living directly or indirectly via government or quasi-government sources was likely to vote for Cameron - and they didn't! Secondly, there is something for us anti-Labour louts to enjoy over the coming months and that will be the internecine guerrilla war that will break out amongst the rival gangs in Labour ranks as 'Brown the Brute' fights to retain his leadership and they manouvre to have him removed and replaced with their own favourite 'prince'. Machiavelli, thou livest yet!
Say Hello to Napoleon for me.
