I can hardly bring myself to write this but 'well done, The New Statesman'! They ran an item headed differently from mine up above, calling it: "50 People Who Matter 2010". I have no idea who the other 49 are, not me, at any rate, but they do include, somewhat grudgingly, the admirable, doughty Steve MacIntyre who almost single-handedly, it seemed to me, beavered away at the highly complex foundations of many of the AGW claims and bit by bit brought them crashing down. Where he led others have followed but in the early days it was a lonely and hostile path he had to tread. This man is a true scientist in the very finest tradition of an honourable activity which, in some respects has sunk into disrepute over recent years. I send him my very hearty congratulations. Now all we must wait for is for the Royal Society to get off its fat, complacent arse and make him an honourary member.
