I refer to Lord Turner, a prize humbug and hypocrite of such proportions that he should be bottled in formaldehyde and put on display in The Tate Rubbish Modern Gallery. This is the man who, as chairman of the appropriate committee, purports to advise the government on climate change. He is also, and the bankers must struggle to keep a straight face, chairman of the Financial Services Authority. Amongst much of the bullshit advice he has proffered on the subject of cutting carbon and thus saving the world is the idea that air travel should be rationed!
Anyway, this prize example of what might be called 'The Great and Good', or, 'A Total Wanker', you choose, insists that he must always travel first class on airlines although on occasions, out of necessity and, of course, his keen sense of duty, he is prepared to fly business class. He averages £4,500 a month on this type of air travel and over 15 months has claimed £66,000. As it happens, his deputy at the FSA has claimed for the same period a mere £12,000 not least because in Europe he tends to fly economy.
Well, you all know the proper D&N response should you see Lord Turner lurking in the first class lounge at some airport, altogether now - "Show us your willy!"
Hat Tip to the Telegraph but I cannot find a link
Beautiful. I can tolerate virtually any opinions in those who actually practice what they preach. We know a couple who think cars are destroying the world, and consequently don't own one and struggle everywhere by public transport. I admire them. Any sincerity is admirable, and it is often the only redeeming feature of the truly vicious or stupid.
But this bloke has to be the worst example of hypocrisy. Apart, of course, from the cabinet millionaires telling us that we are all going to have to take some financial pain...

Yes, it's like my old headmaster rolling up his sleeves prior to giving me six of the best and telling me that it was going to hurt him more than me!
