No, not me, I mean Niall Ferguson at The WSJ. He has stepped into Dr. Who's magic telephone box and shot forward in time. He returns to us now and brings news of the United States of Europe (USE) some ten years hence. A colourful cast includes such worthies as German Chancellor Reinhold Siegfried von Gotha-Dämmerung, Austrian Chancellor Marsha Radetzky and the new prime minister of Poland Radek Sikorski. Apparently David Cameron is enjoying his fourth term in office because having had his arm twisted up his back by Tory euro-sceptics he reluctantly gave in to a referendum which utterly destroyed Labour and theLibDems who campaigned on the slogan "Yeah to Europe". Give it a read, it's worth it.
And in 2013, in a historical twist only a few die-hard Ulster Unionists had dreamt possible, the Republic of Ireland's voters opted to exchange the austerity of the U.S.E. for the prosperity of the U.K. Postsectarian Irishmen celebrated their citizenship in a Reunited Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland with the slogan: "Better Brits Than Brussels."
There will also be a snowball fight in hell.

It's no wonder that all the other historians, and all economists, are jealous of Ferguson. And his wife's pretty.
