I am very grateful to Indur M. Goklany who has written a piece for WUWT which, if I had my wits about me I might have thought about writing myself! (That's the trouble with being a third-rater!) Anyway, Mr. Goklany, no doubt nudged by the news of the 'Dear Leader's passing, took the opportunity to compare North and South Korea which together form a perfect economic experiment. Nothing illustrates the outcome of the experiment better than these two recent, nightime satellite photos of the South China sea:
As well as providing a perfect picture of the difference between capitalism and communism in action (yeah, yeah, I know neither of them are paradigms of either but in an imperfect world they'll do) they also provide a lesson for the HAFs (Hot Air Fanatics) who are forever prating at us to cut our carbon emissions. Well, they should be really pleased and proud of the various 'Dear Leaders' because North Korea's carbon 'footprint' is only the size of Kim Jong-il's little 'piggy':
Of course, as 'every fule do know', except the 'fules' in the AGW religion, a low carbon emission policy has certain knock-on effects, you know, like malnutrition and death, that sort of thing. Personally speaking, I think on the whole, and by and large, I would prefer Chris 'the lesbian-straightener' Huhne to starve and die rather than me.

I bet all that light pollution really pisses off South Korean astronomers, though. North Korea has clear starry skies to erm... die for.
