It is, of course, absolutely essential that the Hungarian dwarf now pushes his anti-Cameron vendetta to the limit. I believe a Frenchman occupies the senior role in the particular Brussels bureaucracy which deals with finance industry regulations. Hopefully, the little midget will egg his compatriot on to start issuing diktats by the dozen. Incidentally, I wonder if it is Cameron's height which gets under Sarkozy's skin? It can't be much fun holding a conversation with a chap's knees and at least with chère Angela he can look her in the eye! Be that as it may, the more deliberate the anti-British action from Brussels becomes, the easier it will be for Dave to emulate the 'iron lady' - God help us, he might even treat himself to a blonde wig, a handbag and a blue two-piece lady's suit!
Meanwhile, the il-Lib-non-Dems are providing the greatest comedy on show in London. Last night I listened to BBC Radio5 and heard, arguably - nah, there's no argument about it! - the stupidest woman in politics, Baroness Tonge, formerly the stupidest Lib-Dem MP ever to enter the Commons. She laid into Clegg with a sledgehammer - so not all bad then! - and her witterings and twitterings caused huge embarrassment for Evan Harris, a Lib-Dem greaser who lost his seat at the last election and who now realises that his chances of ever laying hands on another are disappearing faster than the euro!
I must confess that I am a sucker for the great parliamentary occasions and I shall be in front of the 'telly' to watch today's statement from the prime minister. Will he oil the wheels for his coalition partners, or just let them swing in the wind? I suspect the former because I fear that Dave lacks the courage to face the country in the New Year. I think he is wrong because the euro currency will not last much longer and the collateral damage to the British economy from the implosion will be blamed on him by the opposition. Better by far to go for it now and enjoy the power of another five years.
In the meantime, come on Sarkozy, do your worst!
