I voiced, so to speak (oh, very witty Wilde!), your complaints concerning difficulties with commenting to Jen (who is a gorgeous blonde lady from California - I insist on it!) and she has replied, thus:
Hi David-
The most likely cause of a comment not displaying right away - especially for long comments - is the comment is held in moderation. Is the missing comment included with your spam comments?
On the comments page, select "spam comments" to view any comments flagged as potential spam. Then you can change the comment status of any comments mistakenly held as suspected spam. More information: [No, I have checked the 'suspected spam' list and there is nothing there except commercial spam]

If the comment submitted was not held in moderation, there could be another reason related to the individual's browser settings preventing the comment from being submitted. A corrupt cookie in your browser can cause a session time out error or prevent the comment script from working. We would recommend any commenters reporting a problem make sure they are using the latest version of their preferred browser and clear the typepad.com cookies in their browser as described here: [Needless to say, all this incomprehensible talk of 'cookies' and 'browsers' is obviously a plot got up by the 'Memsahib' to convince me that I'm mad and should be put in a rest-home!]

We're also happy to troubleshoot commenting problems with your individual readers who are reporting continued problems. They can contact us directly at support@typepad.com, and then we can find out their browser information to further troubleshoot.
If you receive any other information from people reporting comment problems, please let us know.
Thanks,
Jen
Andra, I will send your e-mail description of the problem directly to Jen (the gorgeous etc, etc) and see what she says. Over the weekend I will try and induce 'SoD' to come in by remote and sort out these mysterious 'cookies' and 'browsers', whatever they are.
If anyone else who has had difficulties wants to describe what went wrong I would be grateful.
Thank you dear.
