Honestly, I cannot tell a lie, yesterday, and I have difficulty telling you this, I actually switched over to BBC News. Yes, yes, utterly shame-making, I know, but I had to do it. Sky News, always my favourite channel had been taken over by non-stop coverage of the funeral of some American songstress. It went on and on and on, and more in hope than expectation I switched to Fox News but they went on and on and on even longer than Sky! It was then, in desperation, because of course, as you know, I am a news junkie, I picked up my 'do-flicker-thingie' - and why is that bloody thing so easy to find when you don't really care, but lost for an eternity when you're desperate to get to another programme? - where was I? - oh, yes - anyway, with trembling fingers (I was actually in trauma) I found myself pressing the BBC buttons, muttering something along the lines of 'oh, well, it's certainly going to be Left-wing crapola but at least it will be news', when, to my intense irritation there was yet more coverage of the funeral of the Queen of America! Was all this TV coverage really an American plot (probably the CIA!) to pay us back for boring them rigid with Will and Kate's wedding? I shall never know, but like a heroin addict coming off his habit, I was forced to do without news for most of the day. I believe I actually conversed with the 'Memsahib' which shocked her deeply!
Anyway, after all that, surely the longest funeral in world history, I learn this morning that the poor lady hasn't even been buried yet! Please don't tell me I am going to have to go through it all again.
I haven't turned my television set on since she "went to god" or wherever she went.
I may never turn it on again.
Well, to be honest, I have 3 TV sets - all blank right now.

I could, but I'm currently listening to George Benson.
Somehow it seems, well, better!

Good for you, but alas, I've never heard of him. I know, my bad, and all that but popular music stopped for me when Frankie stopped.
