I mentioned in an earlier post that I had volunteered for the Eastern Front in order to serve with Field Marshal Eric von Manstein, arguably Hitler's finest general, courtesy of a biography written by Maj. Gen. (ret'd.) Mungo Melvin. Little has been heard from me on this subject for some time and I expect you have all been worried, er, you have, haven't you? Anyway, the book is enormous which is entirely in keeping with the events it is recording. I have 'fought' my way almost, but crucially not quite, to Stalingrad. Led by the General (and the author!) I have lost Kharkov but retaken it. Now Kursk looms! Anyone with even a slight knowledge of the war on the Eastern Front will know Kursk was quite simply so huge, so mammoth, so gigantic a battle that I am sure you will forgive me for taking a bit of R&R before I continue the advance. Apart from anything else, the bloody book weighs a ton! Tomorrow I'm back up the sharp end reading as fast as possible and hopefully I will be able to give you a detailed review next weekend. In the meantime, if you are hesitating on buying a copy - don't! It is excellent.
Where did you park your submarine?

Is that a personal question, madam, expressed in the Aussie vernacular?
