I went to see this rather excellent film last night and I recommend it. I am tempted to describe it as 'an everyday story of Hawaiian folk' but, of course, a wife in a coma on a life-support machine and about to have the plug pulled is hardly an 'everyday story'. I learned beforehand that there were two juniors in it, a 10-year old girl (Amara Miller) and a 17-year old (Patricia Hastie). American 'kids' in films are a breed I normally avoid but these two, as well as being well-written roles, were both well-acted. Given the tragic undertones I was expecting hysteria but in fact the sorrows and shocks as a hitherto private life was slowly uncovered was beautifully played by all concerned. Clooney avoided both the light touch which makes him such a superlative comic actor and also any tempation to play the tragic elements too hard. In fact, this was a slice of one family's tragic life and like most families everywhere, they - coped withal! Oddly enough, that was more moving than mass hysteria and doom and gloom would have been. This is not 'A Great Film' but it is an immensely satisfying film with a quiet sort of conclusion that leaves you thinking that perhaps there is hope for their future.
Stop going to see all these bloody movies and then making me see them.
I will admit that I saw a preview of this when I saw "The Iron Lady" and thought it looked worthwhile.
I don't care what the good sister days, I do not believe George Clooney is gay or, if he is, I don't care!
I am thinking of going to see "The Actor" today, on your recommendation so just take a break and let me catch up.

Last week NASA released data showing that last year temperatures in the Arctic rose beyond the record established in 2010 -- setting a new record for 2011. News of the record Arctic temperatures follows a series of alarming developments related to the Arctic in recent months.

"The Actor", Andra? Never heard of it!
Mr. 'Lichtenberg', thank you for your link but, alas, I cannot become too excited by a blogger who names his site "Skeptical Science" and then proceeds to demonstrate that when it come to climate science he is anything but sceptical, indeed, just the opposite, he is an apostle for "the cause".

Well, it's "The Artist". Pretty damned close. Don't get picky with me on a Monday morning.
I've had a big weekend.
