Nobody, but nobody in Australia, knows more than one or two lines of our national anthem.
This is because we don't like it and refuse to learn it.
A lot of people wanted "Waltzing Matilda" but the politicians said that nobody in the rest of the world would understand it and therefore we have to have something called "Advance Australia Fair" which says we are girt by sea. We don't know what that means.
We are Australians and we really don't give a shit about the rest of the world.
Still, we have this stupid national anthem that nobody bothers to learn.

Yes, I think 'Waltzing Matilda' would have been an excellent choice not least because it would be easy to change the words to something scabrous which we could all sing when you Aussies beat us at cricket/rugby, whatever!
