Apparently, the pecksniffs and pox-doctors' clerks who man our so-called Civil Service are fed up with having their tea breaks and extended lunches interfered with by members of the public asking them what they're doing. No doubt with the encouragement of their political 'masters' (heh, heh, who believes it's really that way round?) there are moves afoot to charge us if we have the temerity to ask questions under The Freedom of Information Act. Happily, an e-petition has been raised to urge the government not to go down this path to the neutering sheds! It is worth recording the words of our, admittedly less than great, prime minister, “We want to be the most open and transparent government in the world.” So give him a nudge and sign the petition, here. Also, a quick letter or e-mail to your MP would not go amiss. If you have a blog then please spread the word.
