Hoist in his own petard and about to be dropped into a large, smelly puddle of oil! Too, too delicious! For those with more important matters to concern them than esoteric American squabbles over oil pipe-lines and supposed environmental damage let me explain that Canada has discovered an astronomically huge oil and natural gas field. The Chinese have already rushed in with orders but for the Americans to accept it required the construction of a very long pipe-line named 'Keystone'. Cue every soppy Greenie-Tree-hugger to come out of the woodwork and agitate against it. They, of course, are part of 'Tar Baby's natural support, both financial as well as electoral. Then there are the business shysters in the so-called 'alternative energy' racket, like the late but unlamented Solyndra company who went belly-up after receiving zillions in Federal hand-outs, who want desperately for oil to be even higher priced than it already is so that their product looks cheap! So, naturally, the 'Tar Baby' refused to sign any contract with the Canadians and told Congress he would veto any Bill that tried to circumvent him.
But that was in the past which, in its usually irritating way, has come back to haunt him. Since then there has been a midterm election at which the Dems lost much of their power in Congress. Even worse, in November a whole lot more of them will have to face the voters who are 'wailing and gnashing their teeth' at the price of fuel at the pumps. The Canadian product could almost free them from their reliance on Saudi oil. So suddenly a very large number of Dem Congressmen are withdrawing support from Obama's green stance and are voting in favour of a Republican motion to build the Keystone pipe-line.
As Rick Moran sums it up at The American Thinker:
Ah, shame!
Duff, please just tell me who the hell you think should run the "free" world?
Would you take it on?
