Yesterday, I tried to respond to some of the comments to my various posts. I filled in the 'CAPTCHA' codes correctly and was told by TypePad that my comment had been published - but when I checked, it hadn't! I typed it again - and again - and again - and eventually it was published. Needless to say, a, shall we say, succinct e-mail shot off towards California because, dammit all, it's my bloody blog so I should be allowed to comment on it! To be fair, a rapid response was made asking me to check if my comments had been sent to the 'Spam Comments' box. All I had to do was click on this, then that, and hey presto, there was a box of whose existence I had never suspected, filled not just with my lost comments but yours as well!
I am mortified. I seem to remember a little while ago someone complained that they were having trouble lodging comments but, of course, trained as I am in the wiles of the second-hand car trade I simply worked on the basis that it was their mistake - nuffink to do wiv me, John, and yer warranty ran out last week, no wot I mean? And anyway, I thought, it must be their fault because my new best friend, Bill, has just allowed me "one small step for Man" into the 21st century by providing me with MS8, and I just know that most of you are still using the equivalent of flag signals! For what it is worth, and this is a rarity - I am embarrassed! And from now on, having discovered this mysterious little box entitled, er, 'Spam Comments' - well, I ask you, who would have known? - I shall check it daily (when I remember) and anything I find there will be published - unless it's 'DM' giving me another bloody hundred lines, or Andra going all 'Aussie' on me, or 'JK' sending me a message which he forgot to decode first!
In the meantime, full, frank discussions will ensue immediately between me and Peggy-Sue, Betsy-Anne, Honey-Lee or whichever of the drop-dead gorgeous, blonde, Californian girls who roller-skate to work wearing bikinis, happens to answer my e-mail. (No,no, I don't know all that for a fact, I just have a vivid imagination!)
Anyway, apologies and I will try to keep on top of it - but at least it gives me an excuse to publish this photo!
ADDITIONAL: I have now been informed by 'Betsy-Lou' that TypePad are in the process of changing their 'spam-filter-thingie' and that for a while it will be naughty but it promises to do better in the future - yeeeeees, quite! Anyway, if you leave a comment and TypePad tells you that it has been posted successfully, but it then fails to appear, fear not because with the sort of imperial service we offer here at D&N I will check the spam box and if I find it I will print it!
That "person" in your photo is Joelene ..... she used to be a bloke called Joe.
I think JK knew her in the Philippines.
