Yesterday was the first cut of the Churchyard grass but because of 'change-of-mission orders' from High Command, yes, 'er indoors, I could only manage part of it and today was mostly spent finishing it off. What is quite extraordinary are the dates, the 19th and 20th April. Last year I was cutting in March! Anyway, as usual my task was made harder by the necessity of avoiding the bloody daffodils (yes, I planted them!) and the bloody primulas (yes, they're spreading because I go round them with the mower) and the leaf clusters left over from the snowdrops (and yes I carefully go round them, too, so they're spreading!) Why do I make work for myself, the 'Memsahib' has plenty of it to go round!
Anyway, by late morning the sun was shining and my scruffy patio and my half-dead, semi-frozen garden looked in desperate need of some TLC which I administered with the aid of several cups of tea and pieces of home-made cake - it's the only reason I keep her on! Needless to say, gardens being gardens, what looked like a fairly straightfoward couple of hours escalated and when I called a halt several hours and two visits to the Garden Centre later there is still what looks like at least a day's work tomorrow. My 'garden' is the size of a postage-stamp so how people cope with proper gardens I do not know.
Anyway, all of that, as you have probably guessed, is by way of apology for my absence here in the last couple of days. Tomorrow you can look forward to a nice long Sunday Rumble because I will be looking for every excuse of the "just popping upstairs for minute, darling" variety. Er, you will be looking forward to it, won't you?
How's the swimming coming along David?
Er, I seem to recall your making some slight reference to being "a swimmer" haven't you?

Only Mondays to Fridays, JK, leaving the house at 06.30 and returning at 08.15 hrs and, after a hearty breakfast of one slice of toast and marmalade, I go out and 'do what a man has to do'! God, I'm good!
Steady on, Hank, old chap, it's DM's job to pick up on my mangled English composition - but well spotted, all the same!
