The 'Cleggeron' came in for some heavy battering this week when he opposed the Tory suggestion that mandatory prison terms should be applied to anyone caught carrying a knife for the second time. The 'brown stuff' fell on him from a great height, hurled by just about everyone, including his listeners on the LBC Radio show he hosts once a week. (Incidentally, you may have gained the impression from this blog that I do not hold the 'Cleggeron' in high esteem on account of him being a stupid, smug, useless waste of oxygen, however, let me congratulate him on have the courage/nerve/gall (you choose) to face the public head on during these radio shows.)
Anyway, just as he was about to disappear completely beneath a tidal wave of 'brown stuff' up rides brave Mary Riddell armed with the 'sword of truth', well, her version of it, that is, and a large shovel to dig poor old 'Cleggy' out. Well, I read her defence of 'Cleggeron's stance and all I can say is 'Big Fail'! It did not come as a surprise to discover that the attractive Ms. Riddell is a fervent supporter of prison reform - towards the softer 'slap 'n' tickle' side, of course, not the 'bang 'em up and feed 'em porridge' end of the spectrum to which I belong. She seems to believe that leaving young offenders, that is, those who have already broken the law once, to continue to roam the streets in the company of other young thugs is better than consigning them to prison where they will be in the company of, er, well, other young thugs! Like many another prison reformer, for which read, prison destroyer, she barely gives a thought to us poor subjects of the Queen who needs must take our chances on the streets where the 'ingredients' of Ms. Riddell's social experiment are free to roam around 'well tooled up' with knives.
What reson would a person have for carrying a knife in the first instance?
I know the answer will be "self defence" but I don't like it.
PS: I thought you'd gone. So, go already!!

So, go already
G'day Andra,
Careful using phrases like that people might think you are a good Jewish girl.
I was going to comment on Duffers other post about how clever we Jews were but I couldn't think of anything smart/funny/insightful/intelligent to say so have come to the conclusion that I missed out on that genetic bonus - bugger it. Anyway since Arafat and O'Barmy got one [on his second day in office] I figure they aren't what they used to be.
And Duffers - "go already"
Kol tuv and enjoy your holiday.
