In an effort to raise a faint smile on the faces of my American friends as they face their appalling choice in November, I could not resist this cartoon from The American Spectator:
Within the next four weeks, Director Comey of the FBI is going to have to take his decision. The word is that 'the fix' is in, hence, Obama's enthusiastic endorsement of 'HillBilly' in the last 48 hours. If that is so then Mr. Comey is left with one final gesture, perhaps the greatest two-finger salute ever offered to the Washington cabal, he might resign. Would it were so, but I ain't holdin' my breath!
So, my sympathies to my American friends and I trust they will be reciprocated to me because later this morning I'm off to stay with 'SoD' and attempt to din some European sense into his silly head which appears to be stuffed with pro-EU nonsense. It could be a long weekend! Back later tomorrow.
I've spent the week here on the North Carolina Outer Banks fishing. Sure is better than worrying over politics. David, did you take any photos of Shropshire or were you too enthralled?
If the fix is in and Comey resigns, the remaining FBI agents can begin leaking info like an old bucket.

I trust the catch was suitably large, Whiters, and that you remembered to toss the empty bottles into the water before returning to base!
When I return tomorrow I hope to provide a report on my Shropshire visit including photos - if 'SoD' can provide me with comprehensible instructions as to how to do it!
You are entirely right, as fast as the DoJ sweeps it under one end of the carpet it will spill out the other end. Such fun!

David, yep, large enough I don't even have to lie about it! Just a bit of sun burn from carelessness. The sun screen must be rubbed "everywhere".

I'm not looking forward to November. I may just close my eyes and do an eeny meeny minee moe. You know how people say, if trump is elected I'll move to Canada? I may move there BEFORE the election.

IMHO, the choice in such elections is straightforward -- the lesser evil. In my other humble opinion, the greater evil is quite evident in this instance -- the criminality of mishandling classified information that may have caused the deaths of American agents abroad.
In my third humble opinion, you can always view your vote as being against the greater evil, if that would make you feel less bad.
Cheers.

(The "size of your fingers" have anything to do with it Henry? Mebbe?)

JK,
Now that you mention it, my trigger finger does appear to be a tad fat. And jittery, too.

JK I followed the link on the Yale issue and the mind purely boggles at the stupidity of the "progressives". If the drongos cannot appreciate the richness of the language and its evolution through the poets and authors of days gone by perhaps they could switch to the world renowned poets who wrote timeless rhyme in Abridged Swahili.
I wonder if anyone has pointed out that "English" is a construction of languages originating with "white" people and that if they cut out the contributions to that language provided by the Bard et al their speech would be extremely limited.
And while they are at it they should partition to change the name of their university as the Yale is a mythical beast from the [shudder] white Europeans.
Whitewall you should leave your clothes on while fishing. They way you won't get those "parts" sunburnt.

Aye an' AussieD what's worse is one of the commentors on that Richochet thread included an observation made by one W.E.B. Du Bois to wit:
“I sit with Shakespeare, and he winces not. Across the color line I move arm and arm with Balzac and Dumas, where smiling men and welcoming women glide in gilded halls. From out of the caves of evening that swing between the strong-limbed Earth and the tracery of stars, I summon Aristotle and Aurelius and what soul I will, and they come all graciously with no scorn nor condescension. So, wed with Truth, I dwell above the veil. Is this the life you grudge us, O knightly America? Is this the life you long to change into the dull red hideousness of Georgia? Are you so afraid lest peering from this high Pisgah, between Philistine and Amalekite, we sight the Promised Land?”
Which: my Friend, makes it all the more poor and pitiful.

AussieD...clothing while fishing? Sounds so...civilized.

Never heard of W.E.B. Du Bois before. Interestin' fella'!

Robert,
Are you intimating that fishing is the other sport for which clothing is a nuisance? :)
