So it was just the money he was after! Why am I not surprised? I refer, of course, to Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), the new, young, dead good-looking, ruthless ruler of Saudi Arabia. Having shocked the world by seizing and locking up in a luxoury hotel dozens of the richest men in Arabia, which means some of the richest men in the world, I wondered what he was going to do with them? I suspected - hoped? - that perhaps there would be a parade to a nearby scaffold where various limbs and appendages would be chopped off, er, after removing the gold rings and the Rolex watches first, of course. But no, according to Zero Hedge, it was just a good, old-fashioned robbery, or putting it more politely, a tax demand, er, with menaces! Again, according to Zero Hedge, the takings - I use the word advisedly - could amount to $800 billion. Crikey, with a budget due next week, I hope old 'Phil 'the Pill' Hammond and his pen-pushers in the Inland Revenue don't get any ideas like that!
He might go from being young and dead good-looking to being young, dead, and good-looking.

Is this MbS's "decimation tax"? ...
"Oliver Cromwell brought in a decimation tax ... This was an income tax of 10% on wealthy Royalists."
