We have friends/ex-neighbours arriving for coffee in half an hour and then we are out to lunch so there may be a pause, or three, but fear not - "I shall return".
Poor old 'Rupe': He put in a 'yuuuuuuuuuuge' bid for the Sky TV network but some other rascal bid higher. What can one say, except 'ohdearwhatapitynevermind'! Mind you, I am a bit worried because I default to following Sky News because of my deep loathing of the BBC. Not that Sky News doesn't have its faults but A.B.T.T.B.B.C. - anything's better than the BBC!
We shall see what we shall see! 'St. Theresa', as befits a vicar's daughter, has promised to continue total protection for EU ex-pats living in Britain. Now we must wait and see how the EU 'apparatchiks' treat British ex-pats living 'just over there'. I wouldn't bet the deeds of my house on the outcome!
They do things differently 'over there': As this cartoon from The American Thinker makes clear:
The stench is becoming unbearable: I refer, of course, to this disgusting, malignant and dangerous stunt unleashed by the (non)Democratic party against Judge Kavanaugh. I'm not a 'kiddie-winkie' so I know that politics can be a dirty business but this farrago has plumbed new depths. Yes, the Republicans delayed Obama's choice for the SCOTUS so that he ran out of time but they did so using nit-picking procedural ploys all of which were in the rule book. What they did not do is take a filthy accusation against a man without a shred of evidence, sit on it for weeks and then suddenly release it just before his confirmation hearing. Yes, they might well stop him in his tracks but they will also utterly destroy an honourable man's reputation forever. If any American is prepared to vote for the Dems in November they need to wear rubber gloves!
No more rumbles today
I would like to introduce the word "reciprocity" into the discussion.

"Now we must wait and see how the EU 'apparatchiks' treat British ex-pats living 'just over there'."
I am not an 'ex-pat' of any kind but I'll bet British ex-pats are treated well depending on how easily they pay the appropriate taxes to live where they live. So much so that these ex-pats may be given the 'privilege' to pay more under any 'deal'.
Britain is negotiating with people of bad faith who are bad actors in all this.

The American Thinker is a great publication tht always seems to hit just the right balance between mockery and paranoid fantasy.

A false charge and a follow on public slander campaign run by activist Democrat lawyers. It's like the old USSR collapsed over there and set up shop over here.

Next thing you know the Reds will be back under our beds.
Posted by: Bob | Sunday, 23 September 2018 at 15:50
The Reds were never under our beds or behind trees. They were in the State Dept., and other government agencies. They were also in Hollywood and academia. Their passive aggressive cousins now run the 'Democrat' party as 'Progressives' meaning socialists. Names and dates change but tactics never do.

Joe McCarthy couldn't have said it better. He tried very, very hard though; hard enough to, ummm, get carried away and over-embellish. Like someone said, history doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes. Especially political rhetoric.
David, on the subject of commies, when you come back we'd surely all appreciate your take on Corbyn seeming to be in the Brexit catbird seat for the moment. Think he'll support a second referendum?

Thank you, Bob, it's always useful to have these American sayings clarified.
As for your response to Whiters, the reds are not *under* your beds, like the British Labour party, they are lying *in* them - and tugging all the bed clothes over to their side!

Look around and see if the bullet points don't describe the US and most of the west today. The methods came from mainly one source.

Hope that David, needs no clarifying.

David, funny thing: Your take is a lot like one by an old Brit rock band that, one might surmise, was made up of wise guys:

Can't wait to see The American Thinker's paranoidly hilarious take on the new allegation against the Supreme Court nominee:
"The second claim against Kavanaugh dates to the 1983-84 academic year, which was his first at Yale University. Deborah Ramirez described the incident after being contacted by The New Yorker magazine. She recalled that Kavanaugh exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away."

The man is no better than Bubba Clinton. All these political types are pervs. What we need is a business man on the court...
Uh, come to think of it, maybe not.

That, tho' it dates back over a decade, seems apropos to me.

This is a text book "Borking" being done to Kavanaugh. These are desperate turds being thrown by an utterly empty "Democrat Party/MSM". I thought the Dems had sunk to just trash and were content, but no, they have dug deeper to sewage level now. It suits them.
