Crikey! Where did that come from? I mean, it was all quiet on the Israeli front, well, not exactly 'quiet', but just the usual steady drone of over-flying missiles going in opposite directions, when suddenly the Israeli Defence Minister resigns accusing 'Bibi' Netanyahu of being soft - eh? - what? - 'Bibi' soft? Apparently, this Defence Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, thinks 'Bibi' has lost his 'mojo' because following a piece of particularly vicious fighting on the Gaza border, 'Bibi' cut a deal with Hamas - shlok-horror!
One expects constant upheavals in the Middle East, it is their way of life, er, and death, but when it comes to Israel one expects steadiness, not to say steadfastness, so political turmoil like this is exceedingly worrying. I know next to nothing of the internal politics of Israel but I guess it is the usual febrile mix of cross and double-cross to say nothing of the occasional triple-cross but, dammit, one expects the Israelis to handle it rather better than this 'handbags at dawn' kerfuffle. According to reports, Lieberman is leader of a small but influential party made up almost entirely of formerly Russian Jews. How significant that is, I do not know.
Whatever, a stable and intelligent Israel is utterly crucial in the Middle East, so get a grip, my life already!
Who knows but BiBi knows very well that much more is afoot in the Middle East than how badly Israel can kick the stuffing out of the Pallies. Besides, I understand some well aimed Israeli rockets took out the Hamas Public Broadcasting tv station.
