I refer to the late Mrs. Betty Ballantine, a British lady who has just died at the great age of 99 and to whom, I, as well all you lot, owe an enormous debt of gratitude. She and her husband were the originators of paper-back books.
Starting with Penguin Paperbacks they moved to America and began the soft-cover revolution in the book trade which opened a 'zillion' eyes to treasures hitherto beyond them. You can read her bio here:

The quality of those Penguin Paperbacks was quite poor. Today the pages of books only a few decades old are often brown and brittle. Mind you they will still last longer than a Kindle.

Old people should be honoured even old farts like like us David. My youngest daughter was asking if I had made my funeral arrangements. However I think she really meant had I written a Will.
