For the benefit of my foreign readers, the latest 'scandal' to keep our 'meeja' frothing at the mouth - or on their word-processers - is the Carl Beech scandal. And for once, it is a real scandal! In essence, Carl Beech is a 'nutter' even though he is, apparently, more intelligent than most of his former supporters and sympathisers. Several years back - I can't remember exactly when because I never believed a word of it and so I did not bother to follow it - Beech put it about that there was a coterie of top politicians plus the odd ex-General who were an organised but secret cabal intent on luring children to a London flat for sexual purposes. To be fair, there had been a case before featuring the fat, monstrous MP, Cyril Smith, who spent a lifetime sexually assaulting children but whose activities were covered up by the authorities.
Eager to avoid the shame and embarrassment of the Smith episode, this time the authorities leapt into action led by an eager but particularly stupid bunch of 'plods' who spent 'zillions' chasing Beech's phantasies. Needless to say, certain politicians, always eager to stick it to the 'ruling classes' despite a total lack of evidence, could hardly contain their excitement and whipped up a furore against the ex-politicians and retired Generals whom Beech had accused. Leading the lynch party, of course, was the Deputy Leader of the Labour party, Tom Watson MP - why am I not surprised?
Eventually, Beech was arrested, put on trial and his accusations shown up for the total pack of lies that they were. He was put on trial and has just received a sentence of 18 years. The personal damage inflicted by this man on several distinguished men and courageous ex-Generals,aided and abetted by the likes of Tom Watson, was immense. Even so, as Rod Liddle, rather bravely puts it, is an 18-year sentence right and fitting for the crime? And what about all those senior Police Officers who helped whip up the hysteria with their carefully planned raids on elderly men in their homes which were given maximum publicity by the equally careful leaking of times and places to the media?
As is more and more apparent these days, the Constabulary is not fit for purpose!
The sentence is for showing up the powers that be.

I remember the arguments made by the late 'Anna Raccoon' who destroyed 'Nick's' fiction on her site, but was ignored by the PTB. RIP Anna you have been vindicated,

It is not only in the UK that "the meeja" seem to be on site when a police raid goes down so that the process can make the evening news. Happens down here too.
The organizers of said raids will have blood on their hands when some poor Constable walks into a 12 gauge because someone in "the meeja" just happens to mention the tip off to someone else who passes it on to the villains.
Operational security of information seems an alien concept.

David, I reckon the left were revelling on this witch hunt againt the so called establishment. Ted Heath actually did one of the best deals with the trade unions during the early seventies when he gave wage increases in line with inflation.
