Yes, you can forget all about Royal Ascot, 'Buck' House garden parties and all that sort of thing. Today was St. John's Church fête which, handily, is just across the railings in front of my house. I graciously agreed to attend and, as per usual, I made a bee-line for the home-made cake stand! There I came across a 'yuuuuuuuuge' sponge cake with icing on top and scrummy jam in the middle. Next was the second-hand book stand where, dammit, my browsing was interrupted by various people chatting to me. As you will have gathered over the years, I am not a 'chatty' sort of person - especially when I'm browsing for books! Anyway, I came across a John le Carré which I don't think I have read before, so after that I made a dash shuffle for home and a cup of tea and an enormous dollop of home-made sponge cake. I have set enquiries in hand to find the name of the lady who made it because I want her to have my babies!
David, you didn't have enough "walk off time" to remedy the cake and icing and jam!
