Yes, we can all agree that the Brexit yarn has gone on - and on - and on some more - but hopefully, on October 31st it will finally end. Alas, the other main story that never appears to have an ending grinds on forever - the American election! Within 24 hours of a nominee being elected the preliminary moves begin to find his replacement - and hey-ho, we're off to the races. Well, it sells newspapers, I suppose.
Today, The Spectator has a piece on the subject over at The Coffee House by Daniel McCarthy who writes for the American edition. He maintains that not only will Joe Biden fail to beat Trump, he won't even win the Dem nomination! He reminds us that in the unlikely event that Joe actually did win, he would take office even older than when Ronald Reagan left it. Sorry, 'Gramps', it's time for the slippers and the rockin' chair!
Mr. McCarthy reckons the real fight is between another 'oldie', Bernie Sanders, a sort of American 'Jezza' Corbyn; and 'Fauxcahontas' Warren, a born-again lying liar and a self-confessed cheat. Beyond those two lies a seething mob of 'Leftie-loonies' with roughly three brain cells between the lot of them and disrespectful as I am to the GAP (Great American Public), I cannot see them voting in one of those loons even if 'Barney Magroo' supplied them with gallons of his hooch!
So, provided no pictures emerge of 'The Donald' smacking the bare bums of some teen-age gals in one of Jeffrey Epstein's villas, then he should walk it next year. Oh, and provided the international financial scenery does not collapse!

Have to say David, sometimes I think our founding fathers made a mistake doing our system so different from the parliamentary systems others of your empire thought better to adhere to.
Ours is sometimes so stale.
