As you regulars know, I always keep half an eye on the 'obits' in The Telegraph because they are a constant source of delight and wonderment and humour and, very often, total admiration. Today, there is an 'obit' on the late, and exceedingly courageous, Sgt. John Sharp who has died recently aged 96.

If ever the well known phrase 'He had a good war' applied to anyone it was to this man. I salute his memory.
Quite a man. It took many like him to keep us free today. Hopefully there are still some like him today.
