Simon Heffer has an interesting review of a book in today's Telegraph. Alas, I am unable to link to it. In it, he reviews a recent book by Brendan Simms titled "Hitler: Only the World Was Enough". Yes, I know, who the hell in his right mind, or even in his Right mind, would wish to read anything more concerning that foam-flecked maniac? Even so, I was attracted to it on being informed by the 'Hefferlump' that one of Mr. Simms' main points in his biography was to emphasise the fact that whilst Hitler was many things, the fact is that above and beyond all else he was a socialist!
The Left, particularly the pig-ignorant dimwits who constitute the current Left-wing audience, always try to paint Hitler in his Nationalist colours and quietly ignore the fact that he was also a socialist and that part of what drove him on to extremes was his hatred - and fear! - of Anglo-American capitalism.
In academia's insane and self-destructive search for offence, Simms's well-supported claim that Hitler was concerned to challenge Anglo-Saxon capitalism, and determined to raise living standards in Germany to those in the United States has caused one reviewer to liken Simms to the sort of person who calls Hitler "a socialist" in order to discredit Bernie Sanders. It is ridiculous to equate contemporary socialists with Hitler and Simms does not even begin to do so. But as Simms points out, socialism was one of the ideologies Hitler embraced, and it does not make Simms 'alt-right' to say so.
In my not very humble opinion, there are more than just a few leading socialists figures today who would feel right at home in the latter-day equivalent of the Berghof!
