I refer to Mr. Patrick Hutchinson, the exceedingly large and very black man in the photo below carrying an unconscious white man to safety during the major punch-up in London at the weekend.
It is no more than a single incident on a weekend filled with violence and hatred but thus, even more so, it is absolutely admirable and Mr. Hutchinson deserves unreserved praise for his humanity. Just sometimes, amidst the dire misery and destruction inflicted when populations go out of control, you can spot the occasional act of both courage and decency. Mr. Hutchinson, I suspect, might make a superb and admirable leader for the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.
The Telegraph puts it this way:
The image of Patrick Hutchinson, a grandfather and personal trainer from Wimbledon, south west London, carrying the man on his shoulder through the rioting crowd went viral as a symbol of hope and unity amid the chaos of Saturday’s disorder.
Yesterday Mr Hutchinson, who is an athletics coach, dismissed suggestions he was a “national hero” insisting he simply acted on instinct to protect the man.
The security consultant and martial arts expert said he and a group of friends had decided to attend the Black Lives Matter protests in London on Saturday to prevent young black demonstrators from getting into trouble.
Or, to put it another way, I would definitely NOT want to criticise the exceedingly fit-looking Mr. Hutchinson, especially face to face!
Not many unconscious people have their eyes open.
