Apologies for my absence this week but the simple fact of the matter is that I had nothing to say - who cheered? - however, today I do have some bile to extrude so take cover. I have detested the National Trust for decades, even back in those halcyon days when the 'Memsahib' and sundry friends would suggest trips to various glorious properties steeped in history. In my usual 'old grump' mode I would reluctantly tag along but I hated every minute of it. In my opinion, those magnificent homes should have remained as the private property of their original owners, not ripped off them by a greedy, socialist State in lieu of outrageous taxes. Most of them would have been opened to public view by their owners who would have been happy to have the money to keep their properties in good shape. Needless to say, the State take-over of many of these fine buildings means they have degenerated into empty, dusty museums without soul or spirit.
God rot the National Trust!
David, has the State threatened Duff Manor recently? Fight them off if they do!

And BLM and the woke brigade have completed the takeover ...

NT was always crap. The manors and castles spoke for themselves above and beyond the boring Lib-Dem-ish drone of the undead room guides, so it was tolerable.
But now it's a full-on Left Axis vassal fortress it will tip the balance into unbearable.
I won't be renewing next year. Might try English Heritage instead.
